Jade Dragon Boat
Believe It or Not!, this sculpture was modeled after a real ship used by ancient Chinese emperors! This elaborate, 11-foot long, three-headed dragon boat was hand carved from over 1,000 pounds of solid jade. Chinese royalty made art and furniture from this semi-precious stone because it is thought to possess spiritual powers that heal and protect. Why the dragon? In Chinese mythology, the dragon wields power over water!

The Indestructible Man
More than 65 years later, World War II Veteran Ted Rosen, dubbed “Indestructible Man” by Robert Ripley in 1945, finally receives compensation for his story used in Ripley’s cartoon column. On Wednesday, May 8, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Times Square presented Rosen with a check for $645.00 equaling today’s inflated value of the original $50.00 Rosen claims to be owed by Robert Ripley back in 1945 for use of his story in Ripley’s syndicated cartoon column.
