Ripley's Artifact of the Week

Check out the Medieval Gibbet at Ripley's Believe It or Not! Times Square!

In the Middle Ages criminals were locked in body cages called gibbets, hung from the sides of castles, and left to die!  Exposed to the elements and picked at by birds, the prisoner wouldn't last too long, but the skeletal remains were often left on display for weeks in order to warn others of the fate of criminals.
